As I sat down to write this, I kept thinking about the old James Bond movies with Sean Connery.

Now it’s not often that marketing will make you feel like an international spy, but this Google Ads change is about as close as we get.

Prior to this change, it was hard to tell what kind of Google Ads your competition was running beyond just a general search of the most likely keywords related to them.

Now, however, you can 007 your way into seeing exactly what ads they’re running (as long as they are a verified advertiser) AND their past ads through Google’s My Ad Center (https://myadcenter.google.com/). 🤯

To take a look at what your competitors are doing, click on the three dots beside the Google ad. A window will pop up with information about the business. Within this window, scroll down and click on “See More Ads.”

From here, you can see the ads the ads the business is running and the ads they’ve run over the past 30 days.

Google implemented this change as a way to give users more transparency about how they are targeted with ads, but it serves the dual purpose of making it easier for folks like you and me to see what competitors are up to.

I’m not sure you can take much more excitement than this heading into the weekend, so I’ll leave you to go enjoy the next couple of days 007’ing your Google Ad competitors.
